The Kunstmuseum Basel is full of cloud paintings. But what are these fleeting and at the same time omnipresent clouds actually? Why can you see them but not touch them? Why can airplanes fly through them? Where have they hide the rain, the snow, even huge hailstones? hailstones? Together we will paint clouds, cut them out, shape them and make them disappear. For Cloud lovers of all ages. Open to all ages: Families, friends, children friends, children, teenagers and adults are welcome. Free participation possible without registration.

Eine praxisnahe Führung durch die Ausstellung mit Gabriella Disler
In German. Vor seinem Durchbruch als Künstler verdiente Dan Flavin seinen Lebensunterhalt mit verschiedenen Jobs in diversen grossen New Yorker Museen – als Fahrstuhlführer, Aufseher oder in der Poststelle. Anknüpfend an diesen Teil seiner Biografie möchte das Kunstmuseum Basel die Ausstellung «Dan Flavin. Widmungen aus Licht» aus der Perspektive des Aufsichtspersonals erzählen. Dazu wurden zwei Künstlerinnen vom Besucher:innen-Dienstteam eingeladen, Ausstellungsrundgänge zu entwickeln. Dabei teilen sie sowohl ihre Erfahrungen als Aufsichten als auch ihr eigenes künstlerisches Schaffen in Bezug auf Dan Flavins Werk. Kosten: Eintritt + 5 CHF

Dryck Flader trifft den Ton nicht
Ein Feuerlöscher in der Ausstellung. Eine kalkulierte kuratorische Entscheidung? Die Arbeit einer zeitgenössischen Künstlerin? Oder doch bloss reiner Pragmatismus? Dryck Flader befragt das Zusammenspiel aus Architektur, Kunstwerken und Alltäglichen und nimmt so mit Ironie und Witz die Logik des Kunstmuseums auseinander. Gemeinsam mit den Besucher:innen werden Assoziationen gesponnen, Kunstgeschichte mit Popkultur verwoben und neue Interpretationen entworfen. Eine Werkbetrachtung der anderen Art.

Zum Auftakt unserer Walkshop-Reihe «Urban Light Research Group» erkunden wir Basel im Dunkeln. Anlass sind die Umweltaktion «Earth Hour» und die Sonderausstellung des amerikanischen Künstlers Dan Flavin. Gemeinsam mit den Industrielle Werken Basel und Dark-Sky Switzerland gehen wir der Frage nach, welchen Einfluss die Beleuchtung auf unsere Umwelt hat, und wir gehen Flavins Kunstwerken aus Leuchtstoffröhren auf den Grund.

Ich höre was, das du nicht siehst: Der wunderbare Duft des Frühlings in einem Bild
Der Duft gilt als der älteste Sinn der Menschen und in der Tat sind Erinnerungen an bestimmte Düfte oder Gerüche aus der Kindheit ganz fest in der Erinnerung der Menschen verankert. Darüber und auch generell über die Bedeutung des Geruchssinns wird Kerstin Bitar in ihrem Parcours am 28. März nachdenken. Anlässlich des 150. Geburtstags der Kunstbewegung des französischen Impressionismus widmet Kerstin Bitar ihren Parcours den Gartenbildern und Landschaftsdarstellungen im Frühling solcher Maler wie etwa Camille Pissarro, Claude Monet und Auguste Renoir.
