Collect, collect, collect! What do you collect?

Weekend of Graphics 2023, 11./12.11.2023

What makes a collection a collection? At this year's Graphic Weekend, druckwerk, Kupferstichkabinett, and Basler Papiermühle invite you to discuss collecting and to print your own collectibles on paper. We will explore both historical and still growing collections and inquire about their characteristics and origins. We will print motifs that may mark the beginning of a wonderful collection of your own. Additionally, we invite you to design a stamp or bookplate to label the treasures of your collection.

druckwerk Basel
1–5 PM

Poster:
Start your poster collection –
print your own limited edition poster
on the large-format Vandercook press.

Exlibris:
Set your name in type and
then print a set of
personalized exlibris. Take
them home to mark your
favorite books.

Classify & Catalog:
Organize a random group
of found objects according to your own
criteria. Arrange this
collection and print it on
an A3 sheet.

Basler Papiermühle

1–4.45 PM
Post-it – a collection of thoughts:
What makes a collection?
Why do people collect? And what is
actually collected?
An exchange of thoughts with all
visitors on site.

From our collection:
Print a very special
design from our treasury full of
wondrous, historical templates.

Personal touch:
Create your own collection stamp in relief printing and receive
an individual certificate for your
(future) collection.

In addition, you can make paper, print a calendar, marble paper, and
write with a pen and ink.
