Kunstmuseum Basel - Museum für Gegenwartskunst

Gallery

The conservation studio, which exists since 1936, is responsible for the conservation and restoration of the paintings, objects, sculptures and installations of the holdings of the Kunstmuseum, the Museum für Gegenwartskunst and the Emanuel Hoffmann Foundation with two full-time conservators on staff. About 5500 works of art spanning the fifthteenth to twenty-first century require a demanding range of knowledge and skill for their preservation. The Kunstmuseum furthermore posesses a comprehensive collection of historical frames which can be used for the presentation of paintings on exhibit. The conservation department is also responsible for the care of this frame collection.
